Shadow
As OFP's engine is not 100% realistic concerning shadow, it can be helped
a bit by adding some shadow on the textures themselves. But be careful
: dont add the shadow of a moving element like the shadow of the gun on
the hull... because once the gun will rotate it will look silly as the
shadow will not move. Here I'm going to show you how to put some basic
shadow under the machine gun hull.
First, create a layer named shadow. put this layer on the top of the others
:
Then create the shape of the shadow using the selection tools. You can
combine different shapes using these tools... if you hold CTRL, the new
selection will be substracted from the current one. If you hold SHIFT+CTRL,
it will be added. I'll recommand you use the following settings :
If you higher the Feather value, the shadow will look more blur.
Select the shadow are and fill it with black :
Use the same mask as for the rust (you can duplicate it) :
Now lower the transparency between 20 to 30 % (depends how much shadow
you want...) :
Your basic textures are now finished... it will just need some camo (if
necessary).
